Antonis L. Smyrnaios is a PhD holder at the Faculty of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a professor at the Department of Primary Education of the University of Thessaly.

He teaches the courses Modern Greek History, History of Modern Greek Education and History Didactics in the undergraduate curriculum through the theoretical approaches offered by the Philosophy of History and the Philosophy of Education.

In the postgraduate curriculum “Lesson Design and Development of Teaching Materials in Contemporary Learning Environments” he teaches the course ‘History Didactics’ and in the postgraduate curriculum “Organization and Administration of Education” he teaches issues of educational and scientific innovation. He is the director of the Educational History Laboratory.

In recent years, he has been oriented towards investigating the relationship between society, history, science and pedagogy with the postmodern phenomenon of post-humanism. He has published ten books, co-edited two collective volumes, is a scientific director or has participated in historical research projects, while his articles and presentations at scientific conferences have been published in Greece and abroad.
