Jannis Kozatsas graduated from the Department of Social Policy and Social Anthropology at Panteion University in 2002. He holds postgraduate degrees in the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the National Technical University of Athens (2006), and in Prehistoric Archaeology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2017).

He completed his doctoral dissertation at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany (2015), as a recipient of a DAAD scholarship. His dissertation examined G.W.F. Hegel’s critique of modern empiricism.

He has worked as a research associate at Friedrich Schiller University Jena and has conducted a number of postdoctoral research projects in philosophy in Greece and Germany. He has taught modern and contemporary philosophy at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, the University of Patras, the University of Crete, and the Hellenic Open University.
His research interests focus on issues in epistemology and metaphysics, with particular emphasis on the traditions of modern empiricism, Kantian philosophy, Hegelian and post-Hegelian dialectics, as well as the philosophy of science and technology.
