Giorgos Fragoulis is an Assistant Professor specializing in Social Pedagogy: Critical Approaches and Applications in Primary Education.
He completed his undergraduate studies in History at the School of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2000).
He holds two Master’s degrees: one from the postgraduate program Education and Human Rights, Education and Social Discrimination at the Department of Early Childhood Education, University of Athens, in collaboration with the Institute of Education, University of London; and another from the postgraduate program Special Education at the University of Athens. He obtained his PhD from the University of Athens in 2008.
He has taught for several years at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Universities of Athens and the Peloponnese, as well as at the Hellenic Open University, and collaborates with the National Centre for Social Research. He has also worked for two years as a secondary education teacher (PE02).
His research work has been published in Greek and international journals, edited volumes, and conference proceedings, and he has participated as a researcher in national and European projects.
His main research interests focus on the social and pedagogical role of the teacher; parental involvement and the empowerment of school–family–community relations; critical approaches to educational policies and practices; practices fostering holistic social and emotional development; intercultural education; educational inequalities; and research methodology.
