Research at the D.P.E.

The Department of Primary Education promotes the productive connection between education and research, as well as the interrelated development of its teaching and research work. The faculty members of the Department, supported by collaboration with students from all three cycles of study, operate within the inseparable identity of the Teacher-Researcher.

The Department addresses scientific fields within the Social Sciences in the areas of Sociology, Pedagogy, Psychology, and the Didactics of Humanities and Natural Sciences, which constitute a network in the interdisciplinary field of Education. Within this network, the production of new knowledge transcends established scientific disciplines and is realized through research projects involving interaction and synergy among individuals of seemingly different scientific backgrounds and objectives.

The improvement of learning and teaching processes, the resolution of educational problems both within and outside the school context, the development of teaching practices and curriculum proposals, and all scientific knowledge that contributes to maintaining the democratic character of public Education, mitigating inequalities, and providing equal learning opportunities while simultaneously recognizing and promoting diversity constitute the central aims of the Department’s research endeavors.
