{"id":1790,"date":"2025-11-03T13:40:02","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T11:40:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pre.uth.gr\/?page_id=1790"},"modified":"2026-04-08T11:06:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T08:06:15","slug":"undergraduate-studies-d-p-e","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pre.uth.gr\/en\/studies\/undergraduate-studies\/undergraduate-studies-d-p-e\/","title":{"rendered":"Undergraduate Studies &#8211; D.P.E."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The undergraduate curriculum is determined by a decision of the Assembly after a recommendation by the Department\u2019s curriculum committee and is approved by the Senate of the University of Thessaly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As far as the curriculum planning is concerned, the following are considered: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>a)<\/strong> the complexity of the current social and cultural conditions within which education must operate,<\/p>\n<p><strong>b)<\/strong> the international debate regarding the central features of the scientific and professional profile of the teacher and<\/p>\n<p><strong>c)<\/strong> the requirements to build a solid cognitive and methodological base of teaching subjects in primary education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The curriculum is oriented towards achieving learning outcomes for students aiming at scientific knowledge and professional skills that will allow them to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>understand how knowledge is produced and organized<\/li>\n<li>master a solid cognitive and methodological basis of the content to be taught in primary education<\/li>\n<li>understand how children develop and learn within their individual, cultural, linguistic, religious and racial identities<\/li>\n<li>know how to plan, implement and evaluate teaching-learning projects with predetermined objectives<\/li>\n<li>acquire knowledge regarding the creation of environments that promote individual and group learning and allow educational differentiation and intercultural communication with a commitment to the principles of equality and striving for school success of all students.<\/li>\n<li>know and use in a meaningful and critical way information and communication technologies in the construction of learning environments<\/li>\n<li>reflect on their teaching work, its results and effects with a view to its upgrading<\/li>\n<li>have proficiency in skills and knowledge of educational research practices that can contribute to improving education in general<\/li>\n<li>actively seek opportunities to deepen their knowledge, develop their skills and improve their practices,<\/li>\n<li>understand and embrace the fundamental philosophical and ethical principles of teaching and the ethical commitments of the profession<\/li>\n<li>be able to develop fruitful collaborative relationships within the educational and scientific community and society<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The undergraduate curriculum is determined by a decision of the Assembly after a recommendation by the Department\u2019s curriculum committee and is approved by the Senate of the University of Thessaly.
