The undergraduate curriculum is determined by a decision of the Assembly after a recommendation by the Department’s curriculum committee and is approved by the Senate of the University of Thessaly.

Objectives

As far as the curriculum planning is concerned, the following are considered: (a) the complexity of the current social and cultural conditions within which education must operate, (b) the international debate regarding the central features of the scientific and professional profile of the teacher and (c) the requirements to build a solid cognitive and methodological base of teaching subjects in primary education. The curriculum is oriented towards achieving learning outcomes for students aiming at scientific knowledge and professional skills that will allow them to:
● understand how knowledge is produced and organized
● master a solid cognitive and methodological basis of the content to be taught in primary education
● understand how children develop and learn within their individual, cultural, linguistic, religious and racial identities
● know how to plan, implement and evaluate teaching-learning projects with predetermined objectives
● acquire knowledge regarding the creation of environments that promote individual and group learning and allow educational differentiation and intercultural communication with a commitment to the principles of equality and striving for school success of all students.
● know and use in a meaningful and critical way information and communication technologies in the construction of learning environments
● reflect on their teaching work, its results and effects with a view to its upgrading
● have proficiency in skills and knowledge of educational research practices that can contribute to improving education in general
● actively seek opportunities to deepen their knowledge, develop their skills and improve their practices,
● understand and embrace the fundamental philosophical and ethical principles of teaching and the ethical commitments of the profession
● be able to develop fruitful collaborative relationships within the educational and scientific community and society

Οι προπτυχιακές σπουδές διέπονται από τον Κανονισμό Προπτυχιακών Σπουδών, στον οποίο ορίζεται το πλαίσιο οργάνωσης και λειτουργίας των προπτυχιακών σπουδών. Με την βοήθεια και των Ακαδημαϊκών Συμβούλων αποτελεί πηγή ενημέρωσης των φοιτητριών και των φοιτητών σχετικά με τα δικαιώματα και τις υποχρεώσεις που συνεπάγεται η φοίτησή τους στο Τμήμα.
