Departmental Assembly

The dominant body of the Department is the Departmental Assembly.

The Department Assembly consists of all the Faculty members and one elected representative of

  • the Special Education Staff
  • the Laboratory Teaching Staff
  • the Special Laboratory Teaching Staff
  • the undergraduate students
  • the graduate students
  • the PhD Candidates

The main responsibilities of the Departmental Assembly are: the supervision of its overall administration, the implementation of the rules and the internal regulations, the determination of the general educational and research policy, as well as the planning and strategy of the course and development of the Department, in the context of the general decisions of the University’s Senate.

The Departmental Assembly, which operates in accordance with the applicable provisions and the Internal Regulations of the University of Thessaly, meets regularly once every month but also when convening needs arise. To process various academic, research and operational issues, the General Assembly may appoint working committees.

 

Departmental Chairpersonship

The Department Chair convenes the Assembly, prepares the agenda and presides over its activities. The chairperson’s main responsibilities are to ensure the implementation of the Assembly’s decisions and to head the services of the Department. In addition, he or she prepares and approves the Department’s actions, which he or she submits for approval to the Department’s Assembly and forwards it to the Deanery, the Senate and the Board of Administration of the University of Thessaly.

The Department chair is elected for a three-year term by the Faculty Members.

The current Department chairwoman is Professor Maria Paparousi until 31.08.2025.
